ABOUT ME

I’m Madhur Virathajenman, an accredited BABCP Consultant Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with over 20 years of experience helping individuals enhance their overall well being , overcome life’s challenges and discover their path to resilience, change and fulfillment.

I hold a Master’s in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Derby University, Master’s in Clinical Psychology, a Level 3 Certificate in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and a Certificate in Clinical Supervision. I’ve also completed various workshops to deepen my skills and provide the best possible care for my clients.

My professional journey has included working as a Consultant CBT Therapist and Senior Clinical Manager in the NHS, as well as offering therapy through private practice with organizations like The Priory for over 15 years. These experiences have given me a rich understanding of the complexities of mental health and how to effectively support clients in navigating issues such as anxiety, depression, burnout, stress, trauma, grief, and more.

I believe in creating a warm, safe, and supportive environment where my clients feel truly heard and valued. While I specialize in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, I understand that therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. I tailor my approach to suit each individual’s unique needs, often integrating other therapeutic techniques to ensure our work together is as effective and meaningful as possible.

My goal is to help you uncover your strengths, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and develop practical tools to navigate life’s difficulties with confidence and resilience.

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, professional or parental challenges, or simply looking to enhance your overall well-being, I’m here to support you on your journey toward growth, resilience, and a more fulfilling life.

I also provide coaching for professionals and tailored support for parents, recognizing the pressures and complexities these roles can bring. Taking the first step to seek help can feel daunting, but it’s an act of courage and self-compassion. I’m here to walk alongside you, providing the guidance and support you need to move forward with clarity and purpose.

Let’s work together to create the change you’re looking for.

Thanks to her, I’ve regained control of my life
I was involved in a serious fire and, even two years later, was still suffering from PTSD. Having tried various therapies throughout my life, EMDR with Madhur has been, without a doubt, the most successful for me. Over six months, she helped me process and overcome the flashbacks and trauma I had carried since the fire. Madhur’s patience and understanding were exceptional—during moments when I fell apart, she skillfully guided me through my emotions and ensured I always left sessions feeling grounded. Thanks to her, I’ve regained control of my life, learned why the brain responds as it does, and developed coping mechanisms to help me feel safe if I ever relapse. Thank you for everything.
Thanks to her, my recovery was much faster than I expected
I was referred to Madhur for CBT and was initially sceptical about whether it or a therapist could help me recover from depression. However, I was completely proven wrong, largely due to Madhur’s supportive and impactful approach. She helped me open up, think differently, and develop techniques I now use daily. Thanks to her professionalism, patience, humour, and confidentiality, my recovery was much faster than I expected, and I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone in need.
She is someone who is obviously intent on the wellbeing of the whole person
I was in a really bad space in my life and felt I needed someone to help me deal with issues that were causing me so much pain. I was recommended to Madhur who turned my thinking and my life around. Not only is she highly professional but her personable approach allowed me to accept the idea of 'therapy' as a necessary option to my life. I feel that through her approach of CBT she has armed me with the tools I need to move forward and look at issues differently and in a balanced way. She is not only a therapist but someone who is obviously intent on the wellbeing of the whole person. Many thanks Madhur.
Her approachable nature made it easy for me to open up without fear of judgment.
Madhur helped me overcome health anxiety and depression over six months, and her warmth, positivity, and approachable nature made it easy for me to open up without fear of judgment. She helped me rebuild my confidence, let go of guilt, and gain control over my anxiety, always going above and beyond to support me—even being available out of hours when I needed her. Thanks to her dedication, I was able to enjoy my hen weekend and wedding feeling my best. I now feel stronger than ever, with my life and career back on track. I’m only disappointed she is no longer practicing at The Priory, as I would recommend her to anyone who needs support.
I would wholeheartedly recommend her
A series of difficult life events left me feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and depressed, leading me into a downward spiral. Not wanting to take antidepressants, I was referred for cognitive behavioural therapy and began working with Madhur. She helped me adjust my outlook on life, teaching me coping skills and how to change my thinking through practical goals and tasks. The sessions progressed at my own pace, and as time went on, I began to rediscover the more positive version of myself. Madhur’s kindness, empathy, and expertise as a cognitive behavioural therapist were invaluable, and I would wholeheartedly recommend her.
